A higher model number does not reliably mean newer silicon, a bigger "nits" figure is often an unsustainable HDR peak, and the same chip name can ship at three different power classes. The one thing to know: The same CPU name can behave like a different chip depending on its TDP (wattage) class, which is the single most misleading laptop spec. U-class chips run roughly 15-28W, prioritizing battery life and thin chassis over sustained speed. H-class chips run roughly 35-45W+, built for sustained multi-core performance. HX-class chips run 55W and up, aimed at desktop-replacement performance. Two laptops can share the exact same model number while one is configured at a lower TDP by the manufacturer — always check the specific laptop model's confirmed TDP, not just the chip name.
